About Us

Established in 2011, we’ve been enabling young people to realise and achieve their potential in a 21st century world. We achieve this aim through a number of programmes which you can explore below.

Skills development is a clear and consistent finding from our work with young people across the United Kingdom. We’ve achieved so much with our volunteers, and it’s great to see that it’s not just the volunteers who benefit.

We find that other young people, and friends and families of our beneficiaries, are part of the wider range of social impact. This impact includes but is not limited to: increasing awareness of health and well-being, tackling unemployment and their motivation to do more in our communities – a winning formula.

Our approach is to directly invest in young people with trust at the highest of levels – we have a strong ‘by young people, for young people’ ethos which is backed up through the fact that we have no one in the organisation over the age of 22. Young people aged between 12 and 22 form our volunteers, management committee, board of directors and key ‘moulders’ in our programmes.

We report a large percentage of young people gaining more confidence and it’s clear that confidence delivers change – we pride ourselves on getting the best out of young people and creating a family feel with a sense of belonging and commitment.

In 2011, Xplode was just an idea – today, it is one of the only young person’s charities in Britain to take the By Young People, For Young People ethos to heart – We are entirely run by and for young people and this model is key to our success. We know young people’s needs and wants and we deliver to those needs and wants.

WHAT OUR VOLUNTEER'S SAY

Xplode has enabled me to develop new skills whilst allowing me to expand and develop existing ones. I've improved my communication skills, time management and leadership skills which help me work more productively and I use these in college and in work.

CHLOE BENNETT

MANAGING EDITOR
Xplode has helped me greatly with working in teams and with different people. It helps me communicate with others and be creative with ideas. I have learnt to respect other people’s ideas as the team can build on them together. Working for Xplode has helped me fill in my enrichment diary for college, it also looks very good on my CV as it shows that I can work independently and as part of a team. This helps me stand out from the crowd.

KHALIL MALJI

CFO
Xplode has increased my communication skills, encouraged team participation and developed my management skills. I have been empowered to express my views, challenge my English skills and make new friends. I love working for Xplode and it has inspired me and given me the opportunity to show the teenage population in a good light.

JASMINE MOORE

HEALTH REPORTER
Xplode has given me a lot of confidence and has helped me develop new skills such as leadership, which I didn’t have before. It has also given me various opportunities with working in the media sector and it enabled me to get an unconditional offer for university.
